Nothing saves until you tap it. And there's no GPS tracking anywhere — every suggestion derives from what you typed.

Medical, licence, instrument rating, type or class rating, PPC/OPC, BFR, CRM, dangerous goods, SEPT, passport — and a separate expiry for every country's visa. Hobbs counts down quietly, then starts nudging while there's still time to book.
Your 90-day passenger recency is worked out from the landings you already logged — day and night, per aircraft — so currency is something you read, not something you track.

Instructors sign off in the app: a drawn signature on the student's device, sealed against later edits, printed with the logbook it belongs to.
Encrypted — you choose how
Most cloud logbooks can read your logbook. Hobbs can't.
Your logbook is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves. Only you hold the key — not us, not anyone who breaks in, not anyone who asks. Synced everywhere, readable nowhere but your cockpit.
The honest trade: lose your passphrase and nobody can recover the backup. That's what private means.

Airport codes (ICAO like FALE or IATA like DUR) feed your route Map and the EASA logbook. Times are optional.
Auto-filled with your route from Departure/Arrival — edit freely to add remarks. Shows in the SACAA “Details of flight” column.
A single sector can have both — enter day and night hours separately. They post to the matching Day/Night column for the engine & capacity above.
Simulator details (optional — part of the FSTD time above, not extra)
Landings & approaches (currency)
PF = you flew the sector and made the landing (logs 1 landing automatically). PM = the other pilot landed (logs none). Leave as “—” for single-pilot.
Take-offs fill themselves — same count as your landings, with day or night taken from the departure time (a dusk departure landing after dark is a day take-off and a night landing). Edit either box if a sector swap or a session straddling dusk makes them differ.
Counts toward 90-day recency. Enter approaches flown in the actual aircraft (not FSTD). Types feed instrument currency and the FAA logbook.
Crew
Who you flew with. Once accounts are live, if a crew member is a Hobbs user and logged this same sector (matching date, times, reg & route), the flight earns a ✓ Crew-verified badge.

For dual training or checks — the instructor writes the endorsement and signs this flight on your device. Locked to the flight's details; editing the flight afterwards marks it “edited after signing”.

Your Hobbs account
One login for everything: your logbook backup and the Pilots side — friends, and their latest landings on your map. It used to be social only, which is why it sat apart from Backup & sync; after creating it, link your logbook to it up in Backup & sync.
This password proves who you are to the server (stored only as a secure hash). It is not your encryption passphrase — that one never leaves your device.

Keeps your logbook safe and every device in sync. Enter the same access code, email and passphrase on each device you use.
Using an access code? (older setup)
Hobbs used to need a shared access code, a separate email and a passphrase. If this device was set up that way it still works — but signing in to your account above replaces all three.
Before you set a passphrase
Your logbook gets scrambled with it on this device, before any of it is sent. Hobbs never receives it — so nobody here can read your logbook, however much we might want to help.
It is not your account password. A different thing, for a different job.
The same one on every device you sync, or that device can't unscramble your flights.
Write it down somewhere safe. It cannot be reset or recovered. If you lose it, your cloud backup is unreadable — by you and by us. That is the exact price of us not being able to read it.
Not sure? You don't need this. Signing in to your Hobbs account gives you a backup we can restore if you forget your password — safer for most pilots, and you can turn encryption on later.
The access code is shared — it just lets invited pilots in. Your passphrase is yours alone: it encrypts your logbook (AES-256) and never leaves your device, so keep it safe — it cannot be recovered. Sign in to your Pilots account instead and you can choose a backup we can restore for you.
This is the encryption passphrase, not your account password. Changing it re-scrambles your cloud backup with the new one and updates this device. Every other device must then re-enter the new passphrase to sync again — and like the old one, it can’t be reset or recovered, so write it down before you change it.

Import your hours
Bring your whole history across in one tap. Pick where you’re coming from — Hobbs reads the file and files every flight into the right SE/ME & day/night columns for you.
LogTen Pro: set Account → Settings → Display to Hours:Minutes, then Reports → Exporters → run “Export Flights (Tab)” (not Dynamic Export). ForeFlight: Logbook → export to CSV. EasyLog: pick your LogBook.dat2 file directly — Hobbs reads it natively. Any other logbook: export to CSV or Excel — Hobbs matches the columns automatically.
Nothing without a matching column is lost — cross-country, simulated-instrument and holds are added to each flight’s remarks.
Check my logbook
Looks for the same aircraft filed under different type spellings, flights with no time or no route, impossible dates, and signs an import ran twice. It only reports — nothing is changed.
Coming from paper? Set an opening balance instead
Have a career-totals summary from your last paper page? Set it once — every running total = this opening balance + the flights you log here. Use this or import flights above — not both, or hours double-count.
Photograph your totals line or a totals summary. It’s read by an AI service via hobbsfly.com, processed in memory and never stored. Hobbs only fills the boxes in — nothing is saved until you press Save.
Show / edit the category breakdown
Once set, totals lock so a stray tap can't change your history — tap Unlock (passphrase) to edit by hand, or import a totals file.
Entered your full career total here but also log flights in Hobbs? They double-count. Tap below — Hobbs subtracts your logged flights so opening balance + your flights = your true total, and every flight stays.
Start over — delete my logbook
Wipes all logged flights and your opening-balance totals so you can re-import cleanly. Your account, sync, profile and endorsements are kept. Can't be undone — save a copy first (More → Save a copy).

Enter once — syncs to all your devices and prints on your summary's certification line.
Your logbook's home authority — sets the grid layout and the default for printing & CSV export. You can still switch authority per print.
Sets what the UTC time fields mean when you log a flight. Block includes taxi (EASA / airline standard); Airborne is wheels-up to wheels-down.
EASA Part-FCL (AMC1 FCL.050) keeps the logbook in hours:minutes and records FSTD in its own section — it doesn't count toward total flight time. Picking an EASA-family authority sets both for you; change them back here any time. Your stored hours never change — this is display only.
Validity & expiries
We'll remind you 60 and 30 days before any of these expire. A valid Instrument Rating also keeps you night-current (CAR 91.02.4(2)). Leave blank any that don't apply.

Save the aircraft you fly and the people you fly with. They then appear as pick-lists when you log a flight — start typing in the Registration, Aircraft Type or Crew field and choose from the drop-down. Picking a registration fills its type automatically.

Your own places — training areas & private strips
Flying somewhere with no airport code — a general flying area, a farm or private strip, a turning point, a helipad? Give it a short name and paste its coordinates once. Then just use that name in a flight's Details of flight (e.g. FAWB GFAREA FAWB) and it appears on your map like any airport. Your own places always win over an airport or navaid with the same name.
Where do I get the coordinates?
Google Maps (easiest): press and hold the spot on the map — the coordinates appear at the top or bottom; tap them to copy, then paste here. Your EFB: ForeFlight, SkyDemon and Garmin Pilot all show a point's lat/long in its info panel — copy it as it appears. A chart or the AIP: type it as printed, e.g. S25 56.31 E028 08.40.
Paste it however your source writes it — decimal, degrees-and-minutes, or degrees-minutes-seconds, with N/S/E/W or a minus sign. Hobbs shows what it read before you save, and refuses anything it can't read cleanly rather than guessing.

First open https://hobbsfly.com (no “www”) and wait until Backup & sync above shows ✓ Offline ready — then add the icon: iPhone / iPad (Safari): tap the Share icon (the box with an ↑), scroll down, tap “Add to Home Screen”, then Add. Open the new icon once while still online — it keeps its own offline copy. Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen. Desktop (Chrome/Edge): click the install icon at the right of the address bar. Had a Hobbs icon from before? Delete it and re-add it this way — old icons don’t have the offline files.
